On September 19, 2024, CHW co-director Prof. Adam T. Smith provided witness testimony to the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission of the U.S. Congress. The hearing “Human Rights in Azerbaijan Since the Fall of Nagorno-Karabakh” examined “alleged human rights violations perpetrated by the government of Azerbaijan against ethnic Armenians since the fall of Nagorno-Karabakh and ethnic Azerbaijanis who oppose the government.”

Schiff and 47 co-signing Members of Congress on June 26, 2024 to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. The letter called on Secretary Blinken to ensure that all U.S. diplomats prioritize the protection of cultural heritage by raising the issue “at every meeting with officials at all levels of the government of Azerbaijan
